G N A I had no idea how to reply to you?
Well I have already thought of what I can offer them and I have divided it into workshops/events/seminars/books/guides and such that would be beneficial for each age group. I am also aware that at 18 you are not a child but my hopes are to reach out to some inner city high schools and start what would be interesting to girls in 11th grade approaching senior year. Something they would want to be involved in until they reach college or there next step into adulthood. Also college prep things, but fun. Sort of like a sisterhood/training. And would have special things going on for the young women ready to venture into adult hood.
I find there is an extreme need for this, not only in my area but surrounding cities as well. I am aware of lots of girls that because our city is so dangerous are not allowed to do anything but go to school and come home. And that's not very stimulating, especially if all there doing at home is watching BET and MTV. I want to expose them to many different things and opportunities.
Also just a brief thing I would like to point out, you said that 13 is very different from 18. This used to be the case. I have encountered a lot of 13 years olds who you would think were 22. 13 year olds having babies , sex, drugs. When I was 13 yeah true, I was in a different bracket but not anymore, and that's one of the things I want to try and bring back. I want to show young girls it's okay to have a childhood.
I myself am 23 and would consider myself a good role model, with lots to offer. You appear to have some insight and at least care enough to respond, so thank you. Any more information you may have now that you know this little bit more about what I'm trying to do, would be greatly appreciated.
