» Am i missing out on much if i don't go to prom?

I never went to any. I don't think I missed that much. It always seemed like it was just another way for the jocks to show off.No. I never went to my prom. Couldn't wait to get away from the idiots at school and I didn't want to spend another evening with them. I went to a gig instead, far more fun and I managed to get backstage.I disagree with the answers here that say don't go. I would encourage you to go and to have fun. You will never have another prom so think about that. I have no regrets about attending my prom - it was fun to dress up & go out for one evening. Good luck on you decision! a big fat bruise and scraped a bit of skin.....but could i get a disease or something? and i did rinse it with water i dont know if actually helped... no i did not put bandaid on..... i guess i am going to die slowly :(Make sure you keep it clean. Place some antibiotic cream on it frequently and cover with a bandage. If you do this it should heal very well. Otherwise it could lead to MRSA if you do not, but it is unlikely. people everyday ,especially kids get bumps and bruises , if skin is broken then wash and get over it , you will survive.....you cant get a disease from falling.. how old are you?for elderly, falling is a major problem since their bones break easily..better go to a doctor and have some xrays..Have you got any antiseptic ...... - 2010-03-19

» Who thinks Dio is underrated?

Does anyone think the metal band Dio is underrated? As well as Ronnie James Dio as a singer in Black Sabbath as well?\mm-mm/ Too much metal for one hand! Dio is one of the top 5 metal frontmen ever.Yeah, he is often discredited and overlooked as inferior to Ozzy Osbourne, Bruce Dickinson, and Rob Halford. As for the band, only their album Holy Diver has been given enough attention.YEAH I love Dio! It only makes you sound more flat. Really, as I said earlier, just practice. » Dr Niman Comments on H5N1 in Germany Wild Birds

Qinghai H5N1 in Germany Similar to Last Season Recombinomics Commentary June 26, 2007 On Monday of yesterday the signs multiplied themselves that the virus is in Nuremberg the same as with the outbreak in the winter 2005/2006 or at least this very similarly. The above translation suggests that the H5N1 confirmed (http://www.recombinomics.com/News/06230702/H5N1_Germany_WB.html) in Nuremberg is similar to H5N1 detected in Germany in the 2005/2006. If true, this would support an endemic reservoir in Germany. Last season the H5N1 in Germany fell into three sub-clades (http://www.recombinomics.com/News/06240702/H5N1_Germany_Failure.html). Clade 2.2.2.1 was largely confined to northern Germany and was the largest outbreak in Western Europe. ...... - 2010-03-19

Hi, A couple of days ago I posted a question regarding making a scrollable news section... Since nobody really seemed to know, I took it upon myself to try. What I need is a news section that get update dynamically from XML and automatically expand as more news is added. I thought that the Photo album tutorial by Kirupa could work as it seems to derive pictures from XML and is scrollable. I wonder if any one can help me change this actionscript by Kirupa so that i works with text from XML and can scroll vertically? » Water Effect

Can anyone please tell me how to get the effect where water in small waterfalls/streams appears asa sort of mist?i can't find any pictures as an example so hopefully someone will know what i meanuse a slow shutter speedYup, you need a slow shutter speed. During the day you might not be able to slow it down enough, so that's where a 2 or even a 4-stop neutral density filter will come in handy. You'll also need a tripod, or something flat that you can set the camera on for best results. If you can hand hold extremely well and even better if you have a stabilized lens, you can occasionally pull off good handheld shots of stuff like this too. Here's a recent example. My D80, ISO 100, 16mm and f/11 on my Tokina 11-16 lens, and a 1 second expo...... - 2010-03-19

» Describe a business cycle?

Macro related. A business cycle typically looks like a diagonal swirly line. The swirly line represents the alternating pattern of economic expansion and contraction because businesses are so greatly affected by the changes in output. Recessions, or contractions, are the periods of time during which output falls - that is, after a peak and before the next trough. Recoveries, or expansions, are the periods of time during which output increases - that is, after a trough and before the next peak. The best theory on the business cycle is presented by the Austrian School of Economics. They explain that business cycles are not caused by the free market. It is actually caused by government intervention. Entrepreneurs are the exper...... - 2010-03-19

Help me with easy infinite surd...? general infinite surd √ [k+ {√k+ (√k+√k....)}] where the first term is √k+√k . Discuss the scop and / or limitation of your general statment.. Explain how do you arrive at your general statmentAssume that k is positive (else the root of k will be a complex number), and the root is the positive square root. Suppose this thing converges and the value it converges to is x. Then, x^2 - k = x So, x^2 - x - k = 0. Solving, this has two solutions and one is negative. It can't be the negative one because everything is always positive by our assumption, so if x exists it must equal the positive root, i.e. x = (1+√(4k+1))/2. It remains to show that the finite surds :√k,√(k+...... - 2010-03-19

(All of my experience is in retail and customer service, with a year of management.)Working in a photo lab has nothing to do with photography. Unless it's a very special photo lab, there's nothing you couldn't do your first day, everything is automated. You feed the film into one end of a big machine and the photos come out the other end. i dont know much about them but only advice i can give is. look on the internet for a local reptile store and get a phone number and ring it up and ask there advicei wish i could say more but seriously, get a bet asapThat sounds like tail rot. This can be caused by trauma to the tail or retained sheds. Without treatment, it will gradually eat up the tail and get to the body, at which point it will kill the animal. Your Beardie needs to see a vet ASAP, they may be able to save the tail and the animal. In extreme cases, they may have to amputate part of the tail to save the Beardie's life, so get it early before it has worked up far and there is more of a chance both of losing part of the tail and losing more of the tail.It could eit...... - 2010-03-19

That is how it used to be before abortion clinics. You can introduce another law to prevent coitus from occurring except for allocated pregnancies under license. Will that cure things? Of course not. » Tidy HTML problems

In FP 2006, I can't find a way to see what Tidy HTML has done. Also, after it runs, a small box comes up with Tidy HTML comments, but it cuts them off at the width of the box, which is quite narrow, so you really can't see much of them so it is close to useless. Perhaps this can be fixed in the Pro version, if it ever comes out.Grab the right hand edge of the box with your mouse and resize it, making the box wider. Unfortunately it doesn't remember the setting, so you have to do it every time you use Tidy.Making the box wider is of little help, since all lines are still cut off as if it were a narrow box (although you do see a little more). Widening it produces a bunch of white space on the right side, but you still have most of the expl...... - 2010-03-19

» Is the porsche 911 turbo water cooled?

All Porsches 911s were air cooled through 1998. There was no Turbo model built in 1998. The 1997 Turbo and Turbo S 911 models were air cooled. At 424 HP, the 1997 Turbo S was the most powerful air cooled Porsche ever built. The later "air cooled" 911s were actually air and oil cooled: they had a huge oil capacity, with a large oil cooler helping to dissipate heat. The 993 body 911s, the last air cooled ones, were built from 1995 through 1998. These cars had an oil capacity (in a separate tank) of 12 quarts. Porsche introduced the 996 body style in 1999. These had the first water (and oil) cooled 911 engines. The 996 body was replaced by the 997 body in 2005; however, both body styles were built that year. The new 997 bodies w...... - 2010-03-19

» Do you think regional pilot is a not-respected job?

I just want to hear your opinion. The salary of regional pilot is around 20000 per year but increases as you get seniority. Do you think it's a great job?Professional pilots by definition are people who are in the business because they love flying more than anything else in the world. So they really don't care whether they are respected or not, and they don't mind making pit-licking money for a few years. And it is one of the main ways to work up to the major airlines. So if you care about respect, go to medical school or become an Army Drill Sergeant. If flying gets your goody like nothing else, become a pilot. The only reason one should become an airline pilot (in which a regional airline would be the first st...... - 2010-03-19

» Path length - Follow-up for Manuka

This is not so much a question as it is a comment on a previous discussion. If that's inappropriate, don't post it! A few weeks ago, I asked Google Answers how to calculate the length of a curve on a sphere of radius r, where the curve began at the equator and ended at the north pole, with each point on the path having its north latitude and its west longitude equal. Manuka responded that the answer would be r. sqrt(2). E(1/2), where E represents a complete elliptic integral of the second kind. A decimal approximation of Manuka's solution matched the decimal approximation I had earlier computed empirically. For what it is worth, I found in my CRC Handbook a discussion of elliptic integrals that allowed me to express this ...... - 2010-03-19

» Black & whites

Hi all, was hoping you talented pros :hail: might be able to share with me your own special little secrets to taking a GREAT black and white shot. I have been trying ridiculously hard but find mine looking very grey and unappealing. I love the rich tones but am admittedly struggling to achieve them xx (if it helps, i've posted several bodgey b&w examples in portraits and an example of what i want to achieve is :hail: Elsapets b&w wedding tones?!!) Any advice/ how to's/tricks of the trade are MOST WELCOME :heart:It sounds like they are low in contrast. You need good a good black point and white point. If you are talking digital, I think learning to use the levels and curves functions in Photoshop is pretty much essential to getting good ...... - 2010-03-19

» I started on celexa and am still depressed?

im on 20 mg and its been just over 2 weeks i have a doctors appointment next week do you think it will just take longer or will he put me on 40mg? Its the generic brand citalopram i thinkit takes six weeks to build a therapeutic level of antidepressant... and it is not a happy pill, all it does is enable you to think more clearly so you can deal with the issues that depress you in the first place, so get yourself into counselling as soon as you can.Sounds like you need to go out into the world and do something fun every now and then. I was depressed. but didn't need medication to get out of it. rather nice thing to take a walk in the woods alone. or ride a bike around the city. maybe go do some things you've wanted to do for aw...... - 2010-03-19

» indoor, low light

Ok, i'm struggling. Inside, low light and everyone's dancing! How can i get those shots sharp and well lit. I have a Canon 10D with a 420 speedlite. I use a Tamron 2.8 28-105 lens attached. I also have the 50mm 1.8 lens, i haven't even used yet. What next?Welcome to the forum. What settings are you using and what do your results look like? When I shoot dancing people in a dark room (like a wedding reception), I put the camera in manual and match the aperture to the setting on the flash. I then adjust the shutter speed to suit what I want for background exposure. If you use the max sync speed of your camera (1/200 for 10D) you should have no trouble freezing the movement of the dancers but you won't get much background. Y...... - 2010-03-19

» What is the French name of a patisserie item that is like a wedge of bread pudding?

I used to get these when I was a kid in Paris and for the life of me I cannot remember the name. Seems like it is a proper name, like Napoleon is a name for a mille feuilles with frosting, rather than confectioners' sugar. It usually has a light glaze like an apricot glaze, and is served cold in wedges, like any other individual patisserie item. Thanks! The only thing I could think of was a tranche cake.Patisseries have a wonderful flair for naming cakes exotically. There are so many recipes for using up stale bread and making it into a desert around the world that I rather think the local Parisian Shop you recall had their recipe and their special name for it....... - 2010-03-19

» old school meets new school.

i have a nikon d40. i was wondering if old nikon lenses and third party lenses would fit the d40, i know i would have to manually focus it myself but im down with that. i tried a vivitar lens earlier today and it fit perfectly but the camera said that the lens wasnt attached. thanks in advance.I used this when I was thinking about getting a F4 http://www.nikonians.org/nikon/slr-lens.html Pretty much match up the lens type to d40 A lot of them work but have things they can't do right. and if you have any "F3AF" lenses.. then I guess they won't work.thank you....... - 2010-03-19

» Maximum torque question?

What is the maximum torque exerted by a 55 kg person riding a bike if the rider puts all her weight on each pedal when climbing a hill? The pedals rotate in a circle of radius 17 cm. Torque = 55*9.8*(17/100) = 91.63 N-m Hope this helps.there is no flat answer. even though you know the weight of the person you cant know the force that they would be pulling down with on the grips of the handle bar. it would depend on their strength. but there is a fomula for raidius and weight or force applied. I dont know it off hand. but tis still would not give you a true answer to your question. So it this is a home work question. say you cant give an accurate answer with the info given and why....... - 2010-03-19

» What is proper way to use mysqldump?

Please don't assume anything. I'm having problems using "mysqldump." I want to backup my complete database but the command is not working. I can use mysql just fine with: mysql -h MySQLHost -u MyUserName -pMyPassword The above connects just fine but when I try any of the following, it does not dump anything. I get "Can't connect to local MYSQL server through socket...." with the following: mysqldump --opt -u MyUserName -pMyPassword DatabaseName >backup.sql It looks like the problem was with "DatabaseName" because when I used "--databases", I get a different symptom. When I use this: mysqldump --opt -u MyUserName -pMyPassword --databases >backup.sql I get a backup.sql file but all that is in it appears to be a ...... - 2010-03-19

I know he just had a greatest hits album last month, but does anyone know when Jaheim will come out with a new album? The Makings of a man was incredible!!!Nothing has been announced by him or any of his people. He is a truly great talent and his voice is amazing. That album is a hidden gem. It only came out in 2007 though so I don't expect a new one anytime soon. He's probably in the studio working on his next project. I'd like to see him colloborate with one (or more) of Joe, Rafael Saadiq or Jazmine Sullivan.
